The Technology Student Association (TSA) is the only student organization devoted exclusively to the needs of students interested in technology. Open to students enrolled in or who have completed technology education courses, TSA’s membership includes over 180,000 middle and high school students in 2,000 schools spanning 48 states. TSA is supported by educators, parents, and business leaders who believe in the need for a technologically-literate society. Members learn through exciting competitive events, leadership opportunities and much more. The diversity of activities makes TSA a positive experience for every student. From engineers to business managers, our alumni credit TSA with a positive influence on their lives.
Perhaps the most important benefit of TSA membership is the inspiration and enthusiasm that students gain from receiving recognition for applying their knowledge. Demonstrating skills in a forum beyond school walls motivates students, especially when there is a large, like-minded audience of peers who support them. Other benefits include:
WV TSA is led by two committees:
Executive Committee, which is the student leadership team consisting of the six state officers elected by the membership and their advisors. This committee consists of a presiden, vice president, secretary, treasuruer, reporter, and sargeant-at-arms. The adult members of the advisors of these elected student officers. Members of this committee serve single year terms, but can be elected to the committee for multiple terms.
Advisory Committee, which is the adult leadership team who support the efforts of the executive committee. These members are elected by the current sitting committee members and serve a two year alternating term with a president and president-elect being chosen upong the committee members. This committee consists of a middle school advisor, high school advisor, the current state president, a TSA alumni, a school administrator, a higher education representative, and an industry professional. Also serving as non-voting members are the state advisor, a WVDE representative, and an executive secretary/treasurer.
